Mistery headers?

Here is a '73 F-100 with a 302 and C4. Trying to find headers to fit. I have a set of longtube 302 headers I got in a trade (no brand name-probably from Jegs or...) for a passenger car (I think the guy said later 60's Fairlane but not sure). It seems they will fit, but I'd hate to yank the old exhaust system to find out that they won't! And it's hard to get decent measurements down in there.

Any opinions? Any other headers I could swap over? What have you all been using?

I tried some mustang headers, not sure of year, that a buddy gave me and they wouldn't fit. The passenger side hit the crossmember. I think you'll need either truck headers or shorties.
I bought the cheapo dynomax ones from summit. They're a real PITA to install but MAN, WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

I have a 76 with a 3spd MT and a 302. ok here's a long story. I bought some headers a year ago at a yard sale. only $25. The guy said they'd fit my truck. I decided to start tackling the headers about a month ago. it's a miserable process. my studs for the downpipes were rusted, and one on the driver's side was bent. i cut through the bolts on the driver's side, but on the passenger side i couldn't get to them so I had to cut through the 2" pipe, i was all twisted at an odd angle under my truck. So FINALLY I got the manifolds and piping etc all off and made cardboard templates of the headers and they seemed to fit. Well they didnt. so i go to advance auto parts and bought the $130 Flowtech full length headers for my truck. I find out you have to lift your engine a little bit. 29 year old mounts, gaskets, etc dont like being unhooked, so i returned them and just recently bought $140 Flowtech block huggers. Just about finished bolting them up today. It's tight though. I had to relocate the starter cable clamp to the inner fender just to be sure i wouldn't melt the wire. I also had to insulate the starter wire with plug boot tube (that fiberglassy stuff). I'm going to also add spark blug boots to all plugs. it's just too close to comfort. really tight on the driver's side and takes a few wacks from a hammer to the collector to make enough room for that header next to the motor mount. Bottom line on block huggers: they fit really really tight. it's like a puzzle trying to fit them. Bottom line on the whole subject: I almost wish I had just got a nice dual exhaust system off the stock manifolds. You very well may too. I'm not saying headers are bad, I'm just saying they are tricky and time consuming to install

PS Make sure if you do get huggers or any header for that matter that you use brush on liquid electric tape on the starter terminal. The truck likes to short instead of turning the starter!

I have installed hedman hedders on the 73-79 trucks many, many times
they work very good, and fit well. The drivers side almost falls in place, and
the pass side, you will need to loosen the motor mount nut on the driver side,
and remove the motor mount nut on pass side and jack up pass side, if the
starter is off it might be easier, but I have installed them with out removing it!

My 1979 F100 302 has the summit brand headers from summit racing. They fit well and the install was fairly easy. I have had them for a year and while the finish has worn off and they don't look pretty anymore, they work well. Well worth the 89 bucks I spent on them.

Pro-street/StateTK and JoeBlow,
Do you guys remember the part numbers of the headers you used?
Thanks!
