I'm starting to wonder if I made a mistake, I just picked up my 2006 F350 and had the remote start put in by the dealer. That was 6 day's ago and it's been back 4 times and still not working all the time. I know that the unit is a Ford unit, and that's about all that I know about this unit. My question is , is the 6.0 PSD compatable with a remote start system?
I had the remote start alarm put on at the dealer also. Now please understand , I have had remote start alarms on every vehicle I've owned sense 1991 and never had a problem. This is the first and last one I will ever have put on by the dealer. I have had nothing but problems with it sense day one. I don't think its the alarm, I think its more the installers. The alarm itself ( If you have the one sold by the dealer ) is a Code alarm and is one of the best on the market. But this one has given me fits. Just hang in there, I'm sure they will get it right eventually. I just kept taking it back until they replaced the brain. Maybe I should get mine replaced for getting one from the dealer. Hope this helped.
I had a Viper alarm and remote start added to my 05 F250 6.0L about 3-4 months ago and have had zero problems. It was done by an aftermarket installer and not the dealer. It is really awesome...hang in there...once you get it straightened out you're gonna love it, especially when it gets cold...
Parts man at my dealership didn't have a clue about the powercode remote start! Claimed he never ordered one before. He could not answer my '06 PSD compatibility question either. I did manage to download a tech install manual and parts breakdown for the powercode system and have to say that I am sure all the problems are coming from lack of knowledge by the techs. The installation manual is about 40 pages long!
The parts guy I spoke to was so confused he printed out the part numbers and gave me an 800 number that parts guys are supposed to call before ordering anything! The number is 1-800-FORD-KEY, but is a DEALER SUPPORT LINE. Don't think they will be much help to the consumer. A box of parts from the parts guy, a 40 page install manual, and a tech who is trying to make book time on something he 's never done before..........do the math.........and then do it yourself. I think that's what I will try first.

MLCRI$I$ II Where did you find the installation manual? I'd like to look at that & see If I want to try it my self... Thanks,,,
I had the Astro-Start system put in my truck last year. Works fine with no problems as this is dealer install only by a Astro-Start dealer. $400 complete I think for the whole install and taxes. Took less than 1.5 hrs to due the job.
If the guys in Alaska recommend it......it must be good and they were right. 2000ft 2-way range puts most to shame on distance.
AstroStart 2-way...just about every vehicle rolling off the lots up here have them installed nowadays.
CommandStarts, Vipers, etc. are fine, but in this climate the AstroStart is the only way to go.
its the installer.i just put one on my 06 6.0 and it works great. make sure they used the tach converter or it will cause problems.its a 17$ extra part that is needed in the 6.0 to read the tach signal or all you get is short cranks.
Thanks for all the advise. At least now I know that it is suppose to work. I will mention the tach converter to the installer.
Jims, the dealer charged me $495 for this. Yes I know that it could have been done a lot cheaper but, then tey tell you that it would have voided the warrenty.
This is my first diesel truck so I have a lot to learn.
