So yeah, today's birthday #20 for me and yet I get to spend the day at work, and then get off of work too late to actually be able to go out and enjoy the day. I don't know which one sucks more, getting older or having to work 7 days a week.
Like my cousin told me, birthday #20 officially makes you a nobody. You're no longer a teenager, but you're still a birthday short of being able to legally drink.
Yeah, but at least you still have a couple to look forward to...next year you can legally drink, and when you turn 25 your insurance rates drop! Me, the next big one I have to look forward to is 55, when I become a senior citizen! How depressing is that!
So, Happy B-Day anyway! Look at it this way: at least you're not a know-it-all teenager anymore and you can now officially earn the respect and admiration of your elders!
Thanks guys! A couple things...I have always had the respect and admiration of my elders around here for the simple fact that unlike a lot of teenagers, I have always shown respect to to them and my mom (who has raised me my entire life without a father). I may not be wealthy rich money wise, but I feel like Bill Gates because I'm rich from all the respect I get and show.
ChurchTurtle, I was called a teenage slacker in school only because I never wanted to be there and do the work. I always slacked at school, but when it came time for work I was 100% committed.
Dono, for a lot of people being able to legally drink is a big thing. Mainly because they've been drinking for a while and now that it's legal they don't have to worry abotu getting caught drinking. Unlike me, I don't drink because it's illegal for me. Not to mention even if I could, I wouldn't drink a lot because I grew up my entire life with one parent because of a drunk driver. So it's personal for me when I see drunk drivers out on the road.
You show a lot more wisdom than many others your age. Something like that can make such a major impact on some people's lives, and how we choose to deal with it defines us. I agree that for many, to be able to drink legally is a big deal. Such is our society today, that we place such importance on the consumption of alcohol. I applaude your morals and ideals.
For me, growing up with an alcoholic father was enough to turn me off on the stuff for life. For my sister it had the opposite effect: she's an alcoholic like our father.
So anyway, Happy Birthday again. Another fellow Scorpio...not that I place any importance on that stuff...!
I think another reason why a lot of teens turn to alcohol and drugs because they don't have a real supportive family. Unlike myself. My family has always been very supportive of my decisions and the way I'm choosing to run my life.
