The other night I was driving my 1975 F-150 home and all the inside lights went out and then they came back on. They did this over and over and wouldn't stop. Does anybody have any ideas on this one?
Thanks for the help, Braxton
The same thing happened to me once on my '79 F-150. Each time the dash lights went out, I could hear a faint click under the dash. It drove me nuts! After tracing wires and testing with a test light, mine turned out to be a short. Water had gotten into and filled my driver side front marker light when it rained. I replaced it and have had no problem since.
No I haven't looked behind the instrument cluster but this weekend I will try to get back there since I have to fix the speedometer cable anyway and find something that doesn't look right. Thanks for all the helpful replys, Braxton
Was it just your guage light going on and off? or was your other light like your heater control head lights too? Did you notice them coming on and off when you hit bumps in the road? My 78 had a similer problem, turned out to be the plastic housing the guages and lights mount to. It had gotten britle and started changing shape. Ford still had mine available, I replaced it and fixed my problem. But if all your lights are going out, check the headlight switch.
All the lights including the heater control lights, the windshield washer/headlight indicator lights and the steering column light. They go off pretty much anytime they want to. Braxton
Well I just took the pickup out and the lights quit flashing on and off but the right side lights of the instrument cluster went out. Does this still mean there could be a short or does it just need a new headlight switch. Braxton
