I have a 2001 f150 ext. cab, 5.4 and I am thinking about putting on the trailmaster 4 inch suspension lift. If someone has done this or has this, how hard was it to install and what are your opinions on it. Thanks
Not to steal the thread from highboy, but I'm thinking about doing a suspension lift on a 2000 f150 ext, 4x4, 4.6l and would like suggestions on what to use, how much they generally go for, and how hard are they to install. I'm looking for a lift between 2" and 4".
I thought I'd post it in this thread to help highboy get some feedback as well as myself, and also so I don't create a thread about something that already has a thread.
I have also been searching for a 4"-6" lift for my '97. I think I have my mind set on a Skyjacker 6" kit for around $1600....But I kinda want to stay on the 4" side because of the IFS...
I would also like to try the 4" trailmaster on my '03. I have seen a couple of people on here say some bad stuff about trailmaster. I have had a trailmaster lift on other trucks with no problems, but no personal experience with the f150. Wish I had some useful info to offer.
I have seen some 2" lift kits on ebay for $150 that consist of re-indexed torsion bar keys(crank the bars up 2") and a 2" add a leafs. Most people crank the bars to level out the front of the truck with the rear, but if you do not mind the raked appearence, you can actually have a really cheap 2" lift kit which should allow you to run 33x12.50's.
I am going to put this on my truck, but it will be closer to tax return time!
I talked with a guy at work who has had 7 trucks and each one he has put a suspension lift on of atleast 6", and he said they're not hard at all to do and he mentioned it usually takes him about a day to do the entire truck. I don't know how long it should take, but he doesn't rush through it by any means. But I also don't know if it makes a big difference seeing as 4 of his 7 trucks have been Chevy's/GMC's and the other 3 were Fords.
i changed my mind a little bit i am going to go with the fabtech 6inch lift. Any one ever install the fabtech 6inch. I can get it for not much more than the trailmaster 4 inch. So i firgure why not. I know i dont need extended drive shafts, but are the brake lines going to be long enough or should i get them anyway.
I've been advised against going with the trailmaster 4"...friend has it...stuff breaks all the time on it...course he aint too nice to it either. Rancho is suppose to have a good 4" too.
