hi i have a 79 f-150 that has 2.90 gears in and am mud racing it and need more power at the wheels to turn the 33 in. tires and i was wondering what you guys would suggest 4.11's or not that low also where willl i top out with the 4.11's cuz im kinda decided on that now....thanks for all the help kevin

Hey bud i got a brand new 4.11 built by national drive train i will sell pretty cheap. give me a e-mail at holley99@frontiernet.net if u are interested man. i have a set of 27inch tires and it was a little more than what i wonted.

I made a dumb mistake of jumping to 4:11 in my '73 F100 because the limited slip I bought came with it. It was obviously the wrong gearing and the manual first gear was more like a creeper. I do 65 mph at the very most on the highway. This was with 31 inch tires. Eventually I paid for a rearend shop to "fix it" back to the original ratio which seems to be was 2.56 or something (sorry). My point is I'd be carefull not make too large a jump-it makes a big difference. It was an expensive mistake.
