I am planning on putting in a new exhaust on my 89 f250 with the 7.3 I was thinking of putting a dual system with 2.5 inch pipes out either side. My question is if it is worth putting headers in as well, cause that would be more money and more work, but if the stock manifolds are too restrictive, then maybe it's worth waiting a little while for. Any comments? Along with the exhaust I am planning on putting in a 4 inch ram air intake.
I've always thought that a set of Stan's headers would be seriously cool. The problem is justifying their purchase cost - almost $500. By the time you build up a good dual exhaust system to connect to them, you've got around $750 - $800 invested in your project. Maybe someone out there went from dual exhaust w/stock manifolds to dual exhaust w/headers, and can give us a comparison. How much performance/mileage does $500 buy?
I have 2.5" duel pipes on stock manifolds, i travel 600 miles a week from stop and go city traffic to highway at 75mph turing about 2700rpms and i am getting 20 -23 mpg empty EGTs are low 600 degs at 75mph
