my 1978 ford f150 custom has had some problems recently when idling the engine will putt on and off. everything is fine when throttle is pushed so im thinking it could either be a fuel pump problem or possibly the idle needs to be turned up. any ideas. also once in a while i will notice when its idle like so when the engine goes in and out the lights will also dim slightly. thanks for your help.
The title threw me off, I thought this was a Golfing announcement
Maybe re-adjust the idle circuit screws on the front of the carb.
What RPM is the engine idling at right now ?
Is the gasoline fresh ?
Engine Timing correct ?
Air cleaner clean ?
The lights dimming at idle is normal.
Voltage regulator *kick-in* is usually at 800 rpm.
