Alright, now that I've got your attention untill my somewhat on the line title is changed or removed, lol, whats the deal with the red light lens at the bottem of the doors?
I was in a buddys 99' Stroker last night after deer hunting and noticed that his light up and mine in my 03' definitly do not have any lights in them, heck all mine do is hide the screw that holds the door panel on. I thought newer models were suppose to be better, WTH!!!! Is ford getting cheap on me, removing hood blankets, glove box lights, wheel well liners, ect ect ect. A guy pays 30-40k for a new truck and they cann't keep these minor Items in there, it makes me sick.
Anyway since I don't have lights in mine can I add them and is there a easy way to this or is it more of a PINTA than its worth? I tried doing a search but came up with nothing since I wasn't sure what to call it. Thanks for the help!
Is yours an eary or late '03? My early '03 XLT has the lights. Front doors only though.
As far as adding it, get two bulb sockets and ground one wire. Attach the hot to the Black/Blue wire in the harness under the driver's sill plate, which is the dome light circuit.
the lights are pretty simple to add. i found a replacement that look the same as the reflector but has a built in led in the back at kragen for 10.00 you need ot drill a 1'' hole. i am about to do this to my expy.
I'm gonna have to look tonight, I know there is no light when my door is open and I don't remeber seeing any sockets when I had my door panel off a couple of months ago but maybe I missed it! It just seems to add a little class to the vehicle, the SDs are plain enough without deleting these small options!! Hey is I havn't realy paid any attention but are there lens/lights in the rear doors?
My 03 has them in the front door also but not in the back. It looks like my truck is alot like yours boxcar1974, does yours have the black leather also, if so do you have a console or a center seat? I am trying to find a center seat for mine, but with it being a black leather there is none around.
03' Super Duty, XLT Sport, V10, Auto, Dark Shadow Grey, crew cab long bed
No leather (have the dark flint interior) but I wish I had it with the captins chairs like you have, just a personal prefrence I guess. I have the split bench which is plenty comfortable but for the most part I neveer have more than 4 people in it so the center has been used less times than I have fingers on one hand.
BTW, wouldn't it be nice to have lights in both the front and rear doors, I mean it wouldn't cost Ford more than a few bucks to do this heck, all the Items they deleted don't total more than a couple hundred bucks but when you add them after the fact it cost a bundle of money and time to add them back in, WTF, kinda pisses me off when a truck costs 40k and they cann't even included a few minor things.
Have a 05 diesel, and since new, it somehow creates oil on the underneath side of the hood toward the rear of the hood. As I change my own oil and fuel filters, my dealer said I was not tightening the oil cap tight enough. I swear, if I tighten it anymore it will break. Besides it was doing this before I made the first oil change. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? It is not a lot and the truck uses no oil between changes, so the amount is very small. I was just wondering if this residue could be coming from some other place other than the filter canister.

If anybody hasn't already done so, WELCOME to FTE. IMHO you should start a thread w/ this as your topic. I think it would get better results. But, Welsome anyhow!
uppercrust, there are other means of that oil leak. There are threads on this on other forums. This should be on a new thread but I will tell you a my situation. Brand new I had the that oil on the hood. Took in the dealer and there was a TSB on it. I think the change an oil ring. IT leaked again, replaced more parts. IT leaked again and just got it out of the dealer Saturday. I will be going on a round trip of 2000 miles tomorrow for a week so we'll see what happens. I don't have a list of parts but I know it was plenty. The dealer had My fan off, shroud, and hoses out of the way. I got it home looked underneath and finish cleaning the mess they forgot to do. Some things were not put back like they should and that really pissed me off. I no longer see my truck as new even though I got it in July and now has 10,000miles on her.
OK, off the soap box. Needed to vent.
So I would let them do the next oil change, clean the hood, then take it back. Have you been under the truck to see if you have oil under there? The fan pushes it around.
Well....with me the wife and the three kids it takes up all the seats, that is the reason I wanted the extra seat. I have never had leather but it was a good deal so I bought it, the cloth like you have would have been better but when you buy used somethings you just got to take.
