Hood Question
Hi All,
I am looking to see if I can find a better hood for my 54 F100
can i use a 56 hood, I know the threads for the hinges are larger, is that the only difference?

Yes you can use any 53/56 hood. The only difference is emblem's and the 56 has a small bracket at the rear of the hood in the center. The 56 hood hinge bolts have the same thread as the 53/55 but the shoulder is larger which means the hinge has larger holes.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, didn't the 56 hoods also have 2 round "bolt heads" (for the lack of a better term) sticking up in the middle of the hood next to the cowl? My 53 dosen't have them nor my friends 55, but the 56 hood he had louvered did and so does another 56 that hangs with us.

The hood on my truck has the small bracket in the middle and two bolts through that bracket
I geuss at some time a 56 hood has been fitted to my 54
