97 xplorer cranks....

but does not start...it is an intermittant problem...put the jiffy jumper on it and it fires right off...the battery is weak, this I know, but could this be a crank sensor? Any help is appreciated!

no I think that your battery being weak is the problem. You proved that by using a jump start. I'd replace that battery and see if the no start happens again.

Some Explorers, including mine lately, have experienced INTERMITTENT failure to kick over....meaning everything is fine for weeks/months, then one day it cranks just fine, but doesn't kick over or even seem like it wants to try. You'll need to read up on past posts cause different people have had different luck with EEC relay, fuel pump relay, bad connection at the PCM. Mechanics won't be able to help unless it's doing it when in their hands. Someone recently told me that when you first turn the key and the dash lights come on, check to see if the "check engine" light is on. If not, try to start it. If it just cranks, that's a sign it has something to do with the PCM or connections.
