I have found how to rremove the rear panel. Use a flat screwdriver and slowly pry the plastic surround at the door handle. There are 2 - 3 long tabs and some shorter ones. It takes very little preasure to remove this piece. If you start with the long tab move the screwdriver around to the oppisite side. Start at the lower part first. Once that is off then you can relase the power window switch and bezzel without damaging the clip. There is a small screw therre that has to be removed. At the bottom of the door there is a second screw / small speed bolt. Once the screws are removed and you have disconnected the power window switch just lift up on the inner door panel.
Hello all, I'm a first time poster, and this might sound like a really stupid question, but when you're talking about removing the rear door panel, do you have the door open or closed? My 96 Explorer Sport's rear door lock is broken and the bottom door doesn't open at all (locked or unlocked) and the window panel opens whether it's locked or unlocked. I was thinking about taking the panel off to see if there's anything I can do myself without taking it in to a repair person.
Oasis, for the back door you do have to have it open. At least on my 99 that is. My back door pries up off as described above and then the whole panel lifts up and off so you need the clearence above your trim in order to get it off. I hope this helps.
Do you have the hole beside the glass latch that has a cover over it? Maybe you can do the coathanger trick through that hole (or the guy at the shop can).
