Question hesisation

hey...ok, here i go:
1998 F-150 4.6L 4x4

over the summer it started misfiring...so i changed all of the plugs in it. and it went away. then it started again...so i changed all the wires and once again it went away. only for a shorter period of time. then it started acting up and i changed the coil (1234). now it still wont run right and i changed the plugs in cylinders 3 and 6 (the misifring ones during the problem) thinkin that something happened in the process of new plugs then new wires....but that didnt work either. and in the meantime the check engine light flashes.
i also had a cold air intake on it and had messed with the truck before, so i put the stock intake system back on it. now it still hesitates like its misfiring again...but less hesistation, if that makes sense. however, the check engine light doens come on...or hasnt yet.

im confused as to what it could be.....fuel filter....other coil...MAF???

thanks for your input guys!

check for water in the prts where the plugs go if there is vaccum it all out and dry as best as possible, When you remove the wires is ther rust on the tips of the plugs? if there is a key indication that water is getting in there.

Clean the MAF ... as soon as I hear "cold air intake" I think dirty MAF...

If the MAF gets dirty, the engine runs lean. Any marginal spark plug will cause a misfire, changing the plugs helps, but doesn't really make the problem go away.

of course, I could be wrong, but clean the MAF anyway.

It funny you have this problem, I have the same exact problem you do. The dealer found a misfire in 6 and changed the injectors, it went away for a while then came back. Took it back in and they found a misfire in 4(I Think) changed that one. Again its doing the same thing. I just replaced all the boots on the plugs and that didn't help at all.

It all started around the 70,000 mile mark, if I remember right

I need some help also..

Thanks
Chris

2001 f-150 4.6 4x4... Stock.

I have a question how often do you put fuel injector cleaner into the gas tank. Reason I ask is if you put it too often then it will clog the injectors. It should only be put in once every three thousand miles. I learned the hard way. $$$$$$
