Glow plug diagram
I need some sort of diagram for the newer style glow plug wiring on an 89.
I decided last minute to fix my gp tonite but i dont know what the white wire coming out of the controller to the solenoid is for. I am trying to replace the solenoid with a starter solenoid because I am tire of messing with the old one which I just bought 11months ago and is now useless. I wan to be able to have the controller control the solenoid so I dont have to have a push button.
The white wire is the only thing i dont have figured out.

When I installed my switch, I disconnected the white wire and ran it to a switch and then to a good ground. There is a thread started 11/21/04 and finished on 12/02/04 called "Doing repair and need help". It has a list of all the wires. I don't know how to reference it to make the search easier. I hope that helps.

Dieseldan7.3, the controller on the late model glow plugs will not work a starter solenoid.
The ignition terminal on the relay has power to it from the key switch when in the ON position.
The white wire from the controller grounds the relay trigger coil to turn the glow plugs on.
The starter solenoid would need the white wire to go to battery + volts to make the starter relay work instead of the battery - volts it puts out to make the relay work on the new style relay.
