98 Explorer 4wd Brake Bleeding
I changed the front pads on my 98 Explorer 4WD today. I hadn't done them myself before but I felt a little brave after doing front and rear brakes on my 88 jeep last weekend. The new pads and slides went in without a problem. I made sure that the brake fluid resevoir didn't get to low as I drained fluid prior to compressing the pistons. I was surprised that even though I hadn't disconnected the brake lines that I needed to bleed the front brakes. It took 3 times on each side to get the pedal hard. Why the need to bleed the brakes if the system is closed?
