I have a 1976 ford pickup that has a brand new motor and the body is great, the only problem is that it is 2WD. I aquired a 79 ford pickup with a crappy body but its 4WD. I would like to know if I can use my 351 cleveland motor w/ the C4 on the 351 M400 transfer case that came in the 4wd Chassis. thanks in advance. ill have pics up with my progress.
The 351m400 has a different bellhousing bolt pattern that the 351c.
The 351c shares the bolt pattern of 289/302/351w, how ever the 351m400
has the big block 429/460 bellhousing bolt pattern.

might i ask why you say you have a 351 cleveland, did you put this in the truck, or know someone that did.......it should have a 351m in it or a 302 (or others obviously) in which case you can use the motor from the two wheel drive in the 4x4 chassis with the good body
the 79 wont have a divorced t-case, so you will need to use the tranny that is in it
a divorced t-case will have a drive shaft between the t-case and the tranny
yes, transfer and tranny bolted together, so you definitely have a cleveland with a 302, 351w, 351c bellhousing.....if so, you will need to buy an expensive adapter to mate the c-4 with the 205 ( i dont think they ever came that way, but i dont know everything) or you can find a tranny that will bolt to the cleveland and the 205....i dont think you mentioned what tranny was in the 4x4
that looks like a divorced mounted np203 ( which should not be in a 79 4x4), but if that is what it is it will work.....just drop your motor and tranny in and get a driveshaft to go from your tranny slip yoke to the t-case
the c-4 will probably require moving the crossmember a bit other than that it sounds simple
well mine is like the devorced one, but there is only like 6 inches in between the trans and transfer case, with a u joint looking thing in between. is that still convidered devorced? thanks for soo much help!
