Strange Transmission Issue
I had my 1979 F-150 4x4's transmission was rebuilt 2 years ago and it has started shifting abnornally. If I cap off the modulator, and vacuum line, I am able to start out in low and shift thru the gears without issue, at higher RPM's of course. With the modulator and vacuum line to the manifold reconnected, I have to raise the rpm's extremely high to get the transmission to engage in either D-L2-L1. Reverse works fine in either configuration. I have also replaced the modulator but it made no difference.
Does this sound like a simple repair or am I looking at a transmission swap? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
sounds like the transmission shift points arnt adjusted properly or the governer pressure isnt high enough to acuauate enough system pressure to lock the proper gear to the forward drive hub.
