reg repair

Does anyone know of free software to download that will fix my redigstry.
This is for windows xp. Trying to fix the wifes computer so sorry no spell check.

It was saying I had reg problems. Upon farther checking I have 3 bad segments on the harddrive. So looks like I need to replace it.

What was saying you have registry problems? An IE popup?

As for the bad sectors, you need to replace the HDD ASAP. The bad sectors will spread and corrupt the data.

Windows was as soon as I started the computer. It was a fresh install of windows. I was thinking there was a problem with the xp cd and just didn't install a few things.

If it is a fresh install of windows, the best thing to do is re-install. You don't want to have to deal with problems from the start.

If you have the software CD from the HD manufacturer, run that, too. I've had a few Maxtors that gave me error messages, and the Maxblast software got them up and running long enough to drag my data off.
