What causes Turbo Overboost?
A stuck or sticking VG Turbo
Biased or malfunctioning EBP sensor
Irregular EGR operation
Aftermarket intake and exhaust (throws off MAP and EBP signals)
If you are experiencing a black plastic cold side CAC tube coming off of the intake elbow and excessive boost pressures are not the cause, the tube may be upgraded to the steel type tube with the rubber connectors. This may be done under the provisions of your 3/36 warranty as per TSB 05-22-3 on late build '04 and early build '05 trucks. There was also a recall for this CAC tube for early 04 trucks.
F250Wheels,
That's great. Mine ran perfect to 12,000 miles, that's when a kid tech flashed my truck and totally screwed it up. I took it in for an oil change and told them to check out a slight idle surge, did the flash without my knowledge or approval.
Anyway F250Wheels has yours been flashed.
Ford Doctor,
I have the metal CAC tube and blue rubber hose connectors. Have been told by service department, my CAC issue isn't under recall, doesn't make sense to me, it is doing the exact same thing that the recall addresses.
Thanks, Jim
Yes it has, it was at the dealer for steering box leak. I herd the newer flash was better on milage, so I made up some problems that would point to A new flash. Ran about the same but did go from 15 to 16 MPG.
The flash that was done in March 05, Ford Engineers called it #6, changed the shifting pattern on the transmission. The upshifts with heavy throttle actually shifted through all six gears. Downshifting however is still inconsistant, "Drive" directly to 3rd & 2nd gear, and locking up the rear tires. Once in rain, downhill on curve, 45 mph rear end came around on me. Also after the flash, one block from dealership, on accerlation got this loud flapping noise, like sheetmetal caught in wheel well. It may be the "Turbo Fart" that some refer to. I got it to do it everytime I let off the throttle at 55 mph.
Jim
My 03 with 24000 miles just started blowing off the same hose you are talking about. I replaced the clamp and wired the crap out of it and so far it has not came off again, i was pulling my camper when it came off. once it did i had a hard time keeping it on. i have no confindence in my ford at all, took for elver for someone to figure out that my computer module was bad which would make it quit while running. i have gotten some good ideas from all your replys. Thanks Top Cat
Paclik - I had the same problem as you. My hose blew off three times under NO load. The dealer finally put the new upgraded hose in and that did not blow off, however I did have the Autometer boost gague put in, and my truck just did not feel right. After you have owned the same truck for a few years, you get a feel that something is just not running right. Well, I was right. I would be going up a small incline and my boost gauge would PEG the needle at 35LBS of boost. That is crazy. I was not pulling anything and I did not have a chip. This was STOCK. I took the truck to the dealers several times about this issue, and they insisted that nothing was wrong. I told them to check to make sure the VGT Turbo Vanes were not sticking, and they calimed they checked that and eveything was good. Replaced the EGR and EBP sensors, etc. Still did not feel right and I just could not trust it anymore, so I traded it on a car (BIG mistake). Oh well, I hope you will not loose all hope like I did becuase I am regretting it BIG time (see my truck I had in my gallery) it was a 2003 F350 CC Larait DRW with an early 03 build date (04-03). I miss that loud turbo whistle
