Do Excursions w/ Front Bench Seat Exist?

I am looking to purchase a used Excursion before year end. While everyone and their mothers seem to want the two Captain's Chairs and Console up front, I'm in need of a bench seat, in order to seat nine people. I've seen a number of Expeditions with the front bench seat (9 passenger), but I have yet to find an Excursion with nine seatbelts.

One car dealer said the only time he's seen an Excursion with a front bench seat was in special government vehicles.

1. Is anyone aware of a non-govt. 9 passenger Excursion?
2. Does anyone know if I were to purchase an 8 passenger Excursion, would I be able to special order a front bench seat to replace the Captain's Chairs and Console?

I would appreciate any feedback, as our 6th child is due in January!

The bench seat was only available in the base model, in 2003 and before, that was called the XLT Value. In 2004 and 2005, it was called the XLS. The base version was never more than about 5% ot total X sales, and even the base version could be ordered with the captains chairs as an option, so <5% of all X's have the bench.

You are probably better off buying the X that you want, and then getting a bench seat from a SD from a junkyard or off ebay and switching them out. Even if you find an X with a bench, it's going to be a really stripped down model.

hope you dont want leather as the bench did not come in leather, i also needed the 9 seats but wanted leather. so i went that way. i have seen some pics of a leather bench in an x but i think they came out of a superduty or where taken to be cover in leather.

I have a 2000 model Ex Limited with Leather front bench. I have not seen another though.

wow that must be rare! i wish i would have found one like that, I HAVE NEVER SEEN A STOCK X WITH A LEATHER FRONT BENCH :} although i have grown to love my heated power seats!
