Insufficient egr flow.
Thanks to this forum I just got my 2000 ranger 4wd 3.0 flex fuel running again, it would not start the other morning and I have been driving it with the check engine light on for quite a few months knowing it was an egr related problem. I replaced the egr valve and checked the ports and that did not help, after more searching through your forums I replaced the dpfe sensor, first try it still did it, second try it fired up, smoothed out and seems to be fine. Anyone else with this problem I would suggest checking the ports and tubing first to make sure they are not clogged, replacing the dpfe sensor second (disconnect the negative cable from the battery first then after installing new dpfe reconnect the battery and let it sit about 15 minutes before starting it). I found one at autozone for 51.99, A lot of the other part stores did not even know what I was talking about. I hope this helps anyone out there and might save you 50 bucks on a not needed egr valve.
Thanks to all at F.T.E you guys all rock and I think this is just an awesome place for do-it-yourselfers and/or some of us who cannot afford high priced labor all the time.
Thanks again,
Brian
