Manual to Auto Trans conversion

Checking this out for a friend. Is it possible to change a 62' F100 ( engine?) from a manual trans with 3 on the treee shifter over to a automatic?
I know any thing is possible with enough work. Was there a automatic trans available to match up to a bell housing? I do not know what kind of engine and tranny combos were avaible then.

Truck ford o matics are real hard to find for the Y Block. And just about impossible to find for the 223 six.

Is it the factory engine? or something transplanted in later?

I'm not any help on the swap, but was contemplating doing the same thing with my 66/240/3 on the tree. Kinda stuck between AOD an C4.

Probably no help here either; but I had a 300 with a C-4 mount to it; the only difference pass bell housing issue that I'm aware of is your starter will also have to be change from a manual to a automatic type starter.

just to throw more thought into the matter.

Thanks guys, I appriciate the help with limited info.
garbz2-thanks for possible engine type.
I think I will advise him that the 300 w/C4 would be best option.
