Red face new to me 96f250

well i did it..bought this 1996 f250 stock reg cab psd auto 410 gears for 7400 dollars in new york..first diesel..im not a mechanic reading all the threads sort of scares me..things like wont start, sensors bad, glowplugs bad.stuff like that..mine starts ok now, about 14 miles to gallon around town..but this site is scaring me..seems you need to be a mechanic to own these things..im excited about the truck just hope things hold together..154,000 miles on it..time will tell, im on long island and dont know any good or trustworthy diesel mechanics..im retired and just love toys like this..my friends have newer diesels and go to ford for everything...hope to learn to take care of my truck with you guys thanks in advance for any info or support.....new guy..mike

if you can turn any kind of wrench we can help you out. these trucks are very complicated machines but are very simple to work on.

welcome to fte your gonna love your new truck.
if you need anything just make a thread..... you might wanna hide your wallet now because if you have not gotten bit yet by the mod bug you will soon.

Congrats on the new truck. Take things one at a time and it will become easy. I also have a 96 with a 410, but mine is a 350, and love it. I try and do preventative maintenance so I don't have problems when I don't need them.

The same could be said of any vehicle, assuming you wanted to do the work yourself.

The nice thing is you'll get all the support we can offer should the need arise.....this forum can walk you through pretty much any repair you are inclined to attempt.
