Volunteer Firefighter
Hello everyone, just wondering lately, what's the common requirements to be a volunteer fire fighter? I live in Louisiana if that helps any. I've gone to many fire calls with my uncle and grandpa (chief) and to a bunch of there monday night meetings and water shuttles and stuff. I think when i get old enough i would like to do this. Just a little way i could help.

how old are you? they pretty much usually don't require anything of you other than 18 or older. i know at the department i volunteer at, you just show up for training and whatnot and your in. and seeing as how your already participating, you've got a good start on it. if i wasn't currently going to a Fire Academy i'd be participating more with the department, but i have lots of homework lately on training nights. that, and its been a REALLY dry month or 2...not many calls at all. just talk to the Chief of the department and i'm sure he'd be happy to have you there "on the clock". the fire service can always use more good people. best of luck to you
