Timing cover & pointer

Does anyone know of a place other than a junkyard that sells timing covers and pointers for 400s?

I'm interested in this also - my engine came without a pointer. I reused the timing cover, although I probably should have replaced it.

Oh wait, partsamerica sells timing covers. Search for it, or try this link (not sure if partsamerica links work):

http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductL...Timing%20Cover

Part # 500302E

It certainly doesn't look like my stock one, but says its for a 79 Bronco.

I'll have to check on the moderator approval thing. I've never seen the system do that and I certainly didn't get a request to approve a post in my email or messages.

The timing cover at the site linked is not correct for a 79 Bronco with a 351M engine. That's a timing cover for a 351W.

For the timing cover. If you are refering to the front plate under the water pump TMI was making an aluminum one I believe. Some don't like to use aluminum but I already have aluminum water pump, thermo housing and radiator with no probs. If using an old one I would consider having threaded inserts install where the plate is threaded.

there's not really enough meat to hold any type of thread repair. if your threaded holes are stripped out, just grind the inside smooth and weld a couple nuts on.
