MpG 77' 460

What kinda mileage should I be getting from a 77' F-150 w/460 just rebuilt the motorcraft carb on it gettin around 7-8 mpg(highway) should'nt it be getting more?? Its a 4x2 not sure what the gear ratio is, it runs great though. The tires are 235's, im going to make it my restoration project (on a limited budget) any help would be great!!

If you drive with an egg under the gas pedal, you might get high as 12MPG.

I have a 77 f150 2WD w/460 and get about 10 or 11 MPG Mine is geared at 3.88 for towing.
