Oil Capacity

I know this question has been asked before, but I have done a search of the forum and did not find my answer. I have an 05 5.4 F150 w/ 3100 miles. My question is how many quarts of oil does this engine require. I checked my owners manual and it states 7 quarts, but I just got my truck back from the dealer that did the oil change and they only put 6 quarts. When I asked my service advisor they said this engine only takes 6 and that the manual is wrong. While I was checking my oil level I also noticed that my oil looked dirty so I climbed under my truck expecting to see a new filter and saw that the old filter was still on. So needless to say I will be heading back to the dealer to see what excuse they will come up with for charging for for an oil change that was never performed.

I have an '04 5.4 F150. The manual says 7 and is not wrong. It takes 7 and a new filter. You leave the old filter in place it takes 6. There is no variance, and the dipstick will show oil to the full line. You leave a quart of used oil in and it will mix with the 6 new quarts and the stick will look like dirty oil.
Duran, you should go nail that service manager and find out why he charged for an oil change with out a filter change. Don't let them get away by saying that you only change the filter every other time you change the oil. Your dipstick showed you why that is just plain wrong.

Takes 7 qts with filter change. Every oil change I have done 7 qts takes it to the full mark!
