4 door supercab with 4 cyl ever?

Does anyone know if Ford made the rear access doors available with 4 cyl engine in past years? The new ones force you to get V6.

4cyl, 5 speed, A/C, 4 door supercab 2wd is what I'm looking for.

Thanks for any respones!

I'm pretty sure the 4 banger was never offered with the super cab. Not 100 percent sure, but pretty sure.

I think they were available for a short amount of time, but they are rare. 1998+ is when the 4-Dr. became optional.

2-dr, 4-cyl., Super Cabs were available most years. I have a '95 2.3L Super Cab myself.

I was told ford did not offer 4 cyl with supercab from 2002 to 2005, they do with 2006 but no 4 door option. So perhaps 1998-2001 it was an available package? I would buy new if ford made it.

I wanted good access to the back cab, and still good on fuel. Apparently it's one or the other.

If you've never lived with the four-doors, you won't miss 'em too often.

Every once in a while with something big or heavy I wish mine had them, but I probably only notice their absence every few months.

The 4-door SCabs aren't as good as the 2-door for crash test stability.

Something to keep in mind if you just had to have that 4-door 4 cylinder.

If it's anything like not having tilt steering or pop-out rear windows....you will rarely ever notice a need for them.

If you really want to find one, go to autotrader.com and click on advanced search. There you can tell it to only find four-door, 4-cylinder Rangers. There are several, some of which aren't 4-cylinder four doors. But there are some that supposily are.

The doors were handy for me when I had my F150 for putting my compter and related bags in back. My 99 Ranger supercab that I have now is just the two door. Not a big problem though as the seats tip and slide pretty far forward.

As far as the four cyl. They have plenty of power and get good MPG to boot
My 99 with the 2.5L is pretty stong but the 2001 1/2 and newer with the 2.3L 16 valve are as good or better than the 3.0 and get a lot better MPG.

Th Supercab with the Four was not avaliable for Model years 2004 and 2005.

luckster I recall seeing only two in my area, back in 99, when I was looking for my new Ranger.

One was a Mazda the other a Ranger, both were loaded!!!! Gotta tell you, that engine sure looked mighty small, with all that truck behind it!!!!

After many test drives, over roads I was familiar with, with all the V6 engine/tranny combos, in my local mountainous terrian, I settled on the 4.0L, for the tasks I had in mind & havn't been dissapointed.

So, if you do manage to find a 4dr 4banger, I'd sure give it a good test drive, over roads you are familiar with, that'll stress it out pretty good & see if it'll measure up to your needs & expectations!!!!

That much truck behind the 4banger is asking a lot of it!!!! IMHO

Looking at the Ford México website. It appears that there is a 4 door Ranger with a 4 cylinder. http://www.ford.com.mx/vehicles/vehicles.asp?idModel=RAN
http://www.ford.com.mx/vehicles/know/photogallery.asp?idModel=RAN

If you click on the A tu Medida icon on the http://www.ford.com.mx/vehicles/vehicles.asp?idModel=RAN page, then click on the Motor section and select I-4. The 4 door is highlighted.
