i just bought a set of 6.5" component speakers for my rangers front doors, but 6x8 are installed now. i need to take the door panels off to take measurements to fabricate new door brackets. i have removed the do screws in the handle and the one in the window crank. the truck has manual window and locks.
Yeah. There should be another screw at the top of the door, towards the front on the little part sticking out, in plain sight. And two at the bottom of the door. Were on my '94 anyways. Lock the door before removing the panel.
The 2 you removed for the door handle hold on the black bezel. The black bezel is also held in by clips and will pop off which will reveal a hidden screw. The handles for the window crank it basically a cover, put a small screwdriver behind where the handle pivot and the cover will pop free but wont come off you can just move it off to the side. There will be a t-15 torx head screw in there that holds it on. After that and the other 1or2 screws at the bottom of the panel are removed the panel will be free and you can then lift the panel off. Just push it upwards toward the top of the door about 2 inches and then it will be free.
When putting it back on i always have a hard time lineing up the door lock pull with the panel and i unscrew the black **** and use a small nut driver that i stick through the panel and line up with the lock. Also when putting the crank handles back on make sure they are the same on both sides and dont hit your leg in either the fully up or down position, it will drive you nuts.
And to add to what Jim said, make sure the handles don't end up over the speaker openings at either up or down extreme. The little plastic covers rattle horribly if you sound system is of any quality.
