my truck has one in it, but it was done before me, the 4x4 shifter also, looks real nice. I think you have to remove the floor cover, but might be able to just pull the shift boot. Not sure how to get it out after that though.
I had my twin stick t-case shifters chromed and it cost me $50 for the pair. I'd imagine $20-$25 for the 435 stick. You should be able to just pull the center hump and unbolt the top cover.
not sure about the cost, but to get it out you should remove the carpet and shift cover to get access to the top of the transmission. from there, the lever has a spring loaded collar on top that you just push down and rotate counter clockwise, then it just lifts out. is usually easiest to line up again when it is in neutral (lever goes in straight down). I pulled it out when it was in gear once and it was a pain in the ***.
If the link doesn't work, there is a pic in the "down to frame" gallery that shows the frame w/ engine and trans still in, no stick, and we never pulled the top cover.
The pics aren't all that clear but I swear it was an np435.
The round metal cap on top of the lever should be spring loaded. Simply press down / turn, maybe an inch if that, and it should release up. Lever should pull right out.
Dang, couldn't get that to work for anything on my spare tranny. I'm gonna have to head out to the garage tonight and give it a whirl again. Thanks for the info.
When I pulled the Np435 in my 75, i had to unbolt the top cover.. pulling the stick wasnt a option. You are thinkin of the T18 with the spring loaded cup, unless there were different versions of the NP ...
All my NP435 you just push down on collar as said, and turn counter clockwise, and pop's right out.All NP435 shifter's come out this way,and the T-18 has the same idea but instead of one small turn for lock a T-18 unthread's all the way.All my truck's and Bronco's are manual exsept 1.
