O/D light blinking
My F-150 just started chugging and shifting up and down on its own while driving. The O/D light on the shift lever started to blink. I limped the truck home and the engine runs fine and it will back up in reverse. The trans. has 74,000 on it but I did replace the engine with a new long block at 72,000. Please tell me that the trans is not bad, I already stuck $5,000 in the truck for the new motor.

you could have a sensor like a vehicle speed sensor,or tubine shaft speed sensor giving the computer funny readings, or no readings at all.one of the solinoids could be acting up.get the vehicle scanned by a shop of your choice and let us know what thay get .

Hi t-chief and welcome to the forum 
Like l-m tech said you should get it scanned. The O/D light flashing means the trucks PCM (computer) saw a signal that it didn't like so it set a trouble code that should point you in the right direction.
