460 rebuilt
I am going to look at a 78 extra cab 2wd camper special. It has a 460 that he says is rebuilt. What sort of things do I ask about the rebuild, and for that matter the rest of the truck. Thanks for all the info and the forum is great, my eyes are sore from reading all the good info over the last week!!!

Rebuilt engine depending on *How long since* show some signs of having it done.
New looking gasket edges.intake,valve covers,oil pan,water pump,etc
Newly painted engine parts that were painted dis-assembled and not done while engine was together .
With engine running check the vacuum for the value 19-21.You should hear good suction through the carb
Look for Blue smoke out the exhaust.
Let the engine idle for 5 minutes and then rev it up <> Lots of BLue Smoke ?
Brand of parts used and how much over 0.10-0.20-0.30-0.40-0.50-0.60 ?
Have him Show you receipts and mileage when the work was done.
For the rest of the truck ?
Look for wornout parts & rust in all the usual spots
