The problem that I am having is that no matter what speed the **** inside is on, the heater/a/c will blow high. I just replaced the blower motor resistor and the blower switch on the inside controls. Any idears what else this could be. Is this all controlled by the PCM?
That year has a blower motor speed controler box in my book. Thats the only thing it could be. My drawing stinks so maybe someone else will help also..
Went to the dealership to get this part and they were no help. They told me there was no such thing. Would there be anything ellse that would help the genius find this in his computer.
I assume that your truck has manual control's not EATC, if so I would wiggle and inspect the harness to see if you have any rubs. It sound's like you have a wire grounded that should not be.
99f350sd, if this truck has manual control's there would be no controller, it would have a resister.
My bad I was looking at the automatic ac controls....The only way you can get hi speed all the time is for the ground wire to be shorted to ground. If you pull the switch does the fan still run? If you pull the resistor will it still run? The motor gets grounded by the switch through the resistor pack. If its running hi all the time the ground wire is touching metal somewhere. Check around the motor connector and wires first. Was someone messing with the truck prior to this happening? Should be fairly simple to find. Pull the connectors off the res and sw and see if it still comes on.
if k73 relay is stuck closed or contacts arced together the blower motor will also run on high.fuse 55 is hot all the time feeding the relay contacts that feed the blower motor and the ground path is through the resistor.
You would still be able to control the speed??no. The relay is just so your not using the key sw to power the fan. The relay gets energized by the heater ac control sw. If the fan were running with key off then you'd be right Rich.
Something else to keep you going. If you disconnect the switch with key on the blower should be on low. If you disconnect just the resistor the blower would have only hi with the switch on hi. Key on. Key off nothing should work.
