Yesterday my voltage gage drop to almost nothing, and my battery light came on. Istopped at a dealer they put a tester on it, said the alt. was bad. Put a new alt. on and going down the road the charge was a little high, thought it was just charging the batteries back up. At an Idle it is fine, but as soon as I hit the accelerator the needle damn near spikes. HELP please. What can I do?

How high is it going?
Mine runs about 15 volts at high RPM when the batteries are low.
Check all the connections near the passenger side battery.
There are several connections that distribute the power to cab, motor and alternator probably on the front terminal of the solenoid mounted on the fender.
Also check the grounds to the engine, frame and cab.
Have the batteries load tested , this must be done one at a time with the positive wires unhooked.
Does it have an internal or external voltage regulator ? I would check the voltage at the batteries while it is running to see if the test voltmeter matches the one in the truck .
Not sure about the 92 93 trucks, but the 86 has an external voltage regulator behind the passenger side battery. Little thin silver box with a plug that has 4 connectors in it. Voltage regulator may have died or the connector may be corroded.
