my mom's company that makes the GM truck beds is working 6-7 days a week. i don't know where they are all going but they seem to disappear. She is really worried since that is most of their business. idk why pickups even sell at all. my uncle works for a gm dealership, and they can't keep GM trucks on the lot.
I'd like to see the national numbers on that- we sold every Chevy pickup that dropped off of the convoy truck this month, but that's about 1/3 of what we would normally deliver. As odd as it sounds, GM is still grappling with availability issues.
When that sale went on I went to look at a dmax. Not one left on the lot in the state within a week after the sale started.
3/4 ton diesels are a very different animal from a 1/2 ton gasser.
Sure, lots of commuters buy them, but a very large chunk of diesel buyers are commercial or people who really need a HD truck (such as RV'ers, etc.). Fuel prices be damned, these people need a truck. For many, it's no truck, no eat.
Even if Ford doesn't outsell GM as a whole, the F-series will still be the best selling truck on the road, since it outsold Chevy, and GMC as two different trucks.
