I haven't seen a breakdown- and I'd really like to. My suspicions are that GM outsells Ford in the 1/2T class, and it reverses as you go up the GVW scale.
This probably varies by region, but PB is right about the west coast. I see more new Superduties, but more 1500-series Silverados and Sierras. Dodge and Toyota are also more popular here than national average sales might show.
While separating the GM brands may make the Ford guys feel good about "bragging rights", in reality, there has been absolutely no difference between a Chevy and GMC since 1972.
Ive noticed on the car side off things the bright spot for Ford that the new Ford models are selling well. The Fusion sold 4100 units in its first month on sale. An with the other new cars Mercury Milan an Lincoln Zephr the total came to 6500 units. Not bad for brand new models. The Fusion has had tremendous interest at Ford dealers an sales prove that it will sell very well. Sorry for getting off topic here beig this forum is about trucks but thought people might like to know.

I suspect you might be right. The GM 1/2 tons are more car like and most are used that way. I think I see so many F250s around here because the looked better than the pre 2004 F150s. I would not have bought a pre 04 F150 due to the looks and would not have bought the Chevy after they redesigned the front end. I would have ended up with a GMC or a F250.
also i thought that gm (combined) normally out sold ford. one on one it will never happen, unless the chevy gets the gmc body style. chevy's sell because they are chevy's and gmc's sell because they have a different look that people like. so why they don't market them together as one item, i'll never know.
