I have a 05 ranger with 5000 miles on her.when i press my clutch in she keeps making a annoying squeaking noise.is this something minor or something i need to be concerned about,it does it in every gear, every time.it is really annoying!!!
any advice would be appreciated..
steve.
Go the simple route first. Get your head down there under the dash and push the pedal in with your hands. Chances are it is just the the hinge between the bracket and pedal arm that is making noise. A little greese/oil should cure that. If it is more serious than that, then your next words should be to the local dealers service advisor "hello, yea I need this fixed."
I have the same exact problem, its probably the hinge on the pedal needs some grease. I aint done it on mine yet cause it doesnt bother me, but I will when I get the time.
the wierd part is it actually sounds like it's coming from under the hood, and when I get under there and push it in with my hand I can feel it in the rubber pad of the pedal,if that makes any sense??.anyways she is going to the stealership in the morning just to be sure.I have put grease on every possible moving part under there, don't want to take any chances(I HATE TAKING MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER!!!)
I have a fiant squeek too after 57k but it isn't very noticable so i havent addressed it yet. I also hate the dealership, i will only go there as a last resort. Thet **** me off everytime i go and lie about anything they can.
tell me about it!.they told me yesterday they had to order the part, and it would be here in the morning which would be this morning, and the techs do not come in until 8:00am,the service chucklehead just called me and said my truck was ready at 8:00am.he said it came in late yesterday and they fixed it? I just can never trust stealerships.whatever happen to customer service and honesty,I hope it is fixed, and fixed right...we will see.....
Weird... When I drive my 2.5L 5-spd, I normally start in 2nd gear, bc I'm an easy going driver, and I just recently acquired a squeak as I am pulling the clutch out. Any suggestions?
Starting in 2nd gear is a bad idea, no matter how easy you are on it. Much more slippage needed than with 1st... you'll wear your clutch out much much faster
I would definitely have to agree with MazdaRangerGuy, 2nd gear starts do a lot of damage to the clutch. The people I know who often start in 2nd gear get half the clutch life of me.
I was about to reply with what MazdaRangerGuy said, 2nd gear starts aren't any good at all, wears that clutch out really fast, which may make you an "easy going driver" but I'll tell ya that replacing your clutch won't be fun.
I'll have to stop that! I've done a clutch on a VW jetta TDI before and it wasn't much fun. That was with the motor pulled. It'll be loads of fun underneath my truck.
