Post Overdrive shifting Problem

Howdy all

I'm new to this forum and would like to say my hat goes off to everyone who contributes to this site and also to everyone who has set if up. I like the way everthing is broken down into sections and the general setup is awesome. Good Job!!!

I've just recently purchased a 1995 f150 4x4 302 auto trans it has a 4" body lift and 33" tires.

My question is this: when going down the highway at about 55-60mph I can't get the truck to stay into overdrive. When I reach 60mph it will go into overdrive if I let of the gas but when I try to push on the gas a bit to try to maintain that speed it always drops down a gear. If you push the petal to the floor it seems to kickdown to many gears (first or second). I've read a few post similar to this problem but they all have a little different circumstances. The truck has enough power it just seem like the shift point are screwed up. I do realize that the tires will throw thing off but i'm wondering if someone has had the same problem and what they did to fix it? (gear, ajustments stuff like that) I'm also wondering if the kickdown cable is ajustable on this model? It seems like if I could alter the shift point to be later it may stay in overdrive.

Thanks Dom

the first thing i would do is to drain transmission, torque convertor and change filter.

the overdrive lockup is very sensitive to bad fluid.

Also you didn't specify the axle ratio; as you pointed out the tire size mosifies the effective axle ratio to the point that power at cruise is much less than the design ratio alllows. The higher (lower number 3.31 vs. 3.73 for example) the ratio in rear end the less apparent power plus the ratio is made higher by the ratio between the 33" tire and the stock 235? tire size diameter (29" approximately ?). Post the axle code on the door tag if you don't know what it is and someone will be able to decipher.
Good luck.
