Yes I have a 1993 Ford F150 2 wd 351 v8 . It has 118000 miles on it . Here is the problem. When I get to about 40 to 45 mph I start to get a noise like when you go over rumble strippes . If i give it some gas it go's away or if i let off the gas it go's away. ?? I don't know if it is my drive shaft or my tc going out? Any help would be great Thanks Chris And I justed put new tires all the way around too if that helps? To find the problem
Maybe this will help you guys out didn't mean to stump all the pro's out there the first time I posted. It is a small virbiration with the sound of driving on the other side of the yellow line on the highway the strip's they put in the road to wake you up. It goes away if I give it more gas or it I let off the gas. And it happens around 40 to 45 mph or around 1500 rpm's. And it will come back again around the same speed or rpm unless I give it more gas or let off the gas normal starts when I'm driving at a even speed around 40 to 45 no problem shifting in the tranmission it works fine.
Might be the torque converter shuddering. I describe the feeling as more like driving on grooved pavement. And it happens under light to moderate acceleration right around 45mph, just like yours. It goes away under hard accel and when letting off the gas.
If it is torque shudder, you need to as a minimum change the fluid and take a look around for signs of wear. If you let it go too long, the converter will overheat the fluid which will eventually lead to a rebuild.
my f-250 did the same thing it has the e5 electric trans with od , and it was a fuse shot, tech said the trans was trying to shift but could not find the gear because the curcit was broke , cost the price of a fuse to fix it . dont know if is your problem or not .
Thanks for all the help out there I check the u joints and they where fine . I'll try the fuse next and that doesn't work I'll see If I'm out of balance on the drive shaft . thanks again for the help narrowing if down slowly byt surey. And by the way Panman when is the fuse for the trans with OD locationed at? Is it in the fuse box or under by the tranmission??
