Escort Zx2
My escort zx2 has a shake or viberation throught the whole car under 1k RPMS. it is down right horrible. ANy fixes? I was told that that is the nature of the 2.0 DOHC Any way to turn up idel I guess to 1K RPM? It runs great otherwise a quick little economy car.
PS on the quick part: A friend wants to race. He has a 01 dodge neon SXT 5 spd 4 door. Both are stock Do I stand a chance? I feel like I do.
PS my car is a 99 ZX2 auto 100K mile well maintained - The moble one made a SLight improvement on the shake when I got the car. I turn the AC on and can hear my keys rattle in my cup holder. People ride with me say it is sick and I say it is normal for the zx2.

Sorry I can't help with the rattle, but if your friend is a good driver he might just give you a run for your money with his manual transmission.
The auto ZX2 I test drove didn't seem a whole lot quicker than my wife's basic Escort SE with a 5-speed. Of course I'd probably have had to abuse her car more than the automatic ZX2 to get the same performance.
Actually, on second thought about the rattle, have you checked sparkplugs and wires? My Saturn had a wire that got a little bit loose inside the boot, and it would miss and vibrate at idle, but not highway speeds.
