Unhappy Camshaft Synchronizer Help!

Wow, it looks like my Camshaft Synchronizer and Sensor are both totally lunched....Can anyone confirm that the Synchro shaft is a dealer only item? I hate going in there and bending over.
Has anyone gotten one aftermarket or online?
Thanks..

I'm pretty sure that the synchronizer is a dealer only item. You might be able to find a good used one at a salvage yard though.

A lot of people have done the synch shaft replacement without using he special tool simply by marking things. Good thread on the subject here:

camshaft sensor contd.

I started into this, but gave up on two hitches.

1-I can't see in there well enough to mark anything with any real precision. Even if you removed the whole ignition and intake, it would still be way buried.
2-My manual (Haynes) doesn't explain how to get TDC on anything....there must be a better way than sticking a pencil in your spark plug hole.....

If you just pull the old shaft out and put the new one in without the piston right, even if it's in the same rotation, don't you risk screwing up the fuel timing?
Anyway, I got the parts for about $190 and I'm hoping my local shop will pop the shaft in for less than two hours time.....
This site is great though, keep it up.

Camshaft syncronizer

Synchronizer is not just a dealer item just really hard to find anywhere else. I got mine online for my 1996 Ranger 3.0 V6 for $97.79 with shipping. Do a web search for a Motorcraft DA2094. Hope this helps somebody.

Just bought a Camshaft syncronizer from NAPA for about $55 for a Ranger 3.0.
