Well I finally got my Issopro gauges, Kwick filter, and Superchips Micro Tuner installed on my 2002 4x4 Auto 7.3. My question is with the tuner. When my transmission shifts it seems to make a hissing type noise. Is that normal with the increased tranny line pressure. This noise did not occur before the mods.
Uhhh!!! Wait - are you sure it isn't the turbo?? I'd bet with your new open air filter, you're hearing your turbo at the shift - with the stock set-up - those noises are muffled! Is it the same kind of noise like if you'd be on the throttle hard, and let off real quick?? That's the kind of turbo hiss I'm thinking of.
I had the Kwick filter before the superchips tuner, and prior to the tuner the hiss with the transmission shift was not there, so Im wondering if the hiss noise is a result of the increased line pressure from the tuner.
they guys are right... you are dumping more fuel with the tuner, so you are making more boost... the entire intake path gets pressurized, tubes and intercooler and manifolds, then your tranny shifts and rpm drops so your turbo can't maintain the boost... the pressure built up slips back around the compressor wheel in your turbo and you get a loud "whooosh" sound.... totally normal sound with the setup you have..
Just wondering how many miles on your Transmission? I also have the Superchip 3 position tuner and had a hiss at the Trans. pan, sounded like the return pressure was causing this.
hotshothauler that is the exact same problem that I am having. I have 63,000 miles on my truck, do you think this is normal, or is there a problem somewhere.
I had 230,000 miles on mine when the TC failed. Am replacing with a reman tomorrow, so i did not get a chance to investigate yet! There are post in here that recommend some mods for the Trans (sommex kit). I dont know if this is normal are not. Mine was stock.
