Roughly an inch and a half. The valley width on the 351M/400 is 8.5". The width on the 351C is 7" give or take 1/32".

hard to get an accurate measurement, but i measured a 351m/400 intake's width at approx 12 1/2". took the measurment across the TOP of the intake (widest part). from the top of the gasket surface of one side to the same location on the other side. i don't have a 351c intake to measure, but i know they are narrower because you can run a 351c intake on a 351m if you use spacers. this is assuming that the intake has not been milled/shaved to compensate for milling the deck. i'm sure the one i measured has not been. hope this helps.

i believe that measurment would be the distance between the top gasket surface of the heads, not the block

Valley measurement is taken between the lowermost portion of the head sealing surfaces after they're mounted on the block.

Well on the 400 which is sitting on the stand in my garage it's just a fuzz over 8.5" which corresponds to the measurement of 8-17/32" on the E'brock website.
