Post '73 vs. '71

I've got a 71 F-100 and I'm considering "trading up" to a 71 F-100. The 71 has a V-8 and p/s, p/b & a/t.

I took a look at one today, but forgot to notice if the 71 has disc brakes up front. Do they? If not can you convert them?

I was surprised how different they are inside and out, are the front suspensions the same? Do they pretty much swap out?

I'd like to keep my lumber rack from my 71 which is a long bed. THe 71 I'm looking is too. It looks like the lumber rack will fit, can any verify?

Thanks

Al,
do you mean that you are trading up form a 71 to a 73? Your post does not make much sense to me.

I've got a 71 F-100

(That's the truck I have now)

and I'm considering "trading up" to a 71 F-100.

(That's the truck I'm considering buying.)

are the front suspensions the same? Do they pretty much swap out?

(Does the answer to this question change depending on whether I'm
going from 71 to 73 or vice versa?)

(Or this question? I admit I typed 71 when I meant 73.)

Thanks anyway

Let me try again...

Al,
Rear ends are different widths.
KingFisher
71 did not have disc. 73 had both.
