Conversion to clutch fan?

I have a 1977 F150. 400m. I have the stock fan. It is fixed to the pulley. I have been looking at maybe swapping to an electric fan. For now I am looking at a clutch fan that has came off a 1978 400m with factory air($10.00). The reason I want to switch is for less engine stress because of the fan I am using.
Will using this clutch fan do anything, or would it be better to just save and put in an electric fan?

You can try it and you would only be out the labor of doing it. Electrics work well but unless you get a killer deal, your engine driven fan is fine.
