4x4 vs 4x2, interior noise?

Hello everyone,

Is the 4x4 more noisy on the highway than the 4x2?
The dealer has the truck I want (2006 F150), but it is a 4x4.
Thanks for any feedback.

Jason

I can't compare the 2x2 to 4x4 but my 05' FX4 4x4 is very quiet on the highway. Maybe you should test drive both yourself as this will be the best indicator. Good luck with whichever one you choose. It's an excellent vehicle

Thank you, Arby.
I'll do that when I get to the dealer, I will probably end up with the 4x4 since it is optioned up just right.

The only difference in noise should be from the different tire design from the 4x2 to the 4x4.

I put Big O Allterains on my 994x2 and picked up some road noise compared to the OEM Firestone all season tires.

That is what I assumed, the 4x4 tire would have a more aggressive tread design. I would think that would translate into more noise at highway speeds, but maybe they (tire companies) have engineered those problems out.

I had a friend that was driving a 4x2 for a while and I rode with him on occassion. I never noticed a noise difference in comparison to my 4x4. I now have larger and more aggresive tires so there is a difference.

No problem. Just throwing in my two cents. I like the looks fo the 4x4 better too. But, it is a little more expensive.

Glad to see there are some more Tigers fans posting. I've felt all alone before now.
