dont know about explorer's in general, but i know tuning doesnt make a difference on my mustang. i had a 2000 GT with aftermarket exhaust including an x-pipe, and a cold air intake system.....and had it dyno'd. tuning only helps if you change things like the MAF sensor, or the size of the throttle body.......

Neither exhaust or intakes need tuning afterwards unless you did something major. Easy way to reset it though is to unplug the computer. Take the 10mm bolt out of the wiring harness to unplug it. Some say you hhave to disconnect the battery to reset the PCM, but you can just unplug the PCM and you won't loose radio presets, clocks, etc.
