I have after market power door locks installed on my 2000 ranger, they worked fine for a long time but now when I press the lock button the locks go down and then come back up again...any suggestions? If I push the locks down I get the same result but if I push the passenger side lock down it stays down but driver side will not go down...Please help if you have any ideas. I have no info on the lock kit that was used someone had put it in for me as a gift so I don't know where they had it done or if they did it themselves or what brand it was. Thanks for any posts!!
It sounds like maybe there is some kind of safety feature being invoked. A lot of auto lock systems will try not let the driver lock himself out of the car if the system thinks that the keys are still in the ignition, or if the engine is running, etc. That's how my '97 Taurus is...if I try to autolock the doors while the engine is running or keys are in the ignition, the locks will just pop back up.
