On vacation? Not to do with work, or military assignments. Basically where you have to "get away".
Me, I've seen Hawaii, Mexico, the Philippines, and Vegas. Saw the Grand Canyon by air last year coming into Vegas. And Disneyland 3 times. Twice in 2 years... Must be a newlywed thing.
I've been around a bit. Took a trip to Bryce, Zion and Grand canyons when I was 14, went to Alaska to visit my sister at 15 and then spent a year in Sweden, followed by a trip around Europe. Been back twice since, the most recent back in '97. Haven't been out of California since, however except for a trip to Carson City Nev. when a buddy was racing there and I was pitting for him.
I've seen more of Europe than I have of this country or the one bordering it to the north and south. I'll have to rectify that some day.
My family used to take a trip together up to the Siskiyous in No. Calif. to camp for 10 days every summer. Haven't done that since my folks split up though. Don't get vacations where I work now, so I haven't been anywhere for about 2 years. Oh well.
This year- spring backpacking and canoe trip on the Buffalo Natl. River in Ark., canoe float and fly fishing on the White River in N.W. Ark., one week fly fishing in Durango-Silverton Colorado over 4th of July, and Fall trip planned for Mt.Fork River in S.E. Okla. in Nov. Too bad I can't do this for a living..... but one can dream....
Hmmm....I think I was born into a band of gypsies (oh wait, that's another thread). By the time I was 6, I'd already gone cross-country by car twice, went to Alaska by car, been in every Western European country, and lived in two different countries. By college age, I'd added Mexico, Brazil, Morocco, Tunis, Turkey, Lebanon, Russia, Hungary, Czech Republics (not what it was called then), and Poland...while living in Switzerland.
The kids haven't been immune from our traveling disease- they've been to Europe and Hawaii(twice), Orlando (3X, once by car), and on Mexican Cruises. Lately, we seem to stay in the Pacific Northwest/British Columbia for vacations. After all these years, I treasure a vacation where I can actually relax, instead of needing a week to recoup when we get home.
I've been to Hawaii for the past 3 years in April for my anniversary, Vegas the past 3 years for my wife's birthday in November (fly out tomorrow morning for the 4th year), and Vegas the past 3 years for Valentine's Day.
We don't believe in gambling, so in 6 trips to Vegas, haven't put the first quarter in a slot....The good news, SEMA is held at the same time we are in Vegas for my wife's birthday!
The typical Florida vacation spots (Orlando, Miami Beach), but I do like the west coast (Tampa/ Clearwater area in particular), and the Keys are amazing. The Bahamas (so-so), Cape Cod (one of the most beautiful spots in the U.S.), Toronto, toured the West Coast on Amtrak's Coast Starlight (everyone should ride a train, at least once in their life), and of course, Kansas City. I guess I don't get around much.
All of the states on the East Coast. (At least twice.)
Ontario -- Martin River, North Bay, Toronto, too.
Awe heck, it's easier to say the places I haven't seen in these great United States.
Not been to: California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Arizona, New Mexico, North Dakota, Louisiana, Texas, Hawaii.
Most restful places. . . . . anywhere but home. (Always something to do.)
I'm really fond of the Snake River, just outside of Jackson Hole, Wyo., and Deep Creek Lake, MD.
Havent really traveled that much. I have been to Ga, and Al. twice this year as well as to Tn. but that was more running from hurricanes than anything else. Other vacations include: Fl, Wa, Vegas, San Antonio, and Montana.
guess i haven't travelled that much on vacation but then again I am an OTR driver, and used to be OTR in 38 states so not much incentive to do much travelling for vacation, to me vacation was always getting to stay home and not travel.
49 of the 50 states by semitruck in all 4 seasons.around the world by boat "navy" just had a trip to the U.A.E .man do they like polished marble. in march i'll be doing a trip to H.I. for 12 days making it all 50 states of the good old U.S.A.

Outside the States: lots of time in Mexico (both coasts), Puerto Rico, USVI, BVI, Bequia, St. Barts, Paris, Provence, Venice, Rome and Florence. Inside the country I've been all over Fl and GA hiking and hunting, hunted in TX, NC, SC, AL, MS, CO, WY, ID, CA, NM, NV and MT. Hands down Montana and California are my favorite places to hunt. I've done a good deal of sightseeing all over the west and northwest, as well as the Blue Ridge and Berkshires. But I'm perfectly content on the lake or marsh near my house with a hammock, some cold beer shorts & sunglasses in my airboat.
