I would strongly suggest that you use your DVM's Voltage reading instead of the ma function. It can be very deceiving. Hook it up just like in Franklin's drawing. (I have an expensive Fluke meter that drives me nuts with automotive problems like you are facing.)
If you have a serious draw it will read battery voltage. The radio memory probably won't register a blip on the volts function, where the milliamp function will pick it up and make you crazy thinking you are hot onto the problem.
My preference is to use a test light or an analog voltmeter for this kind of work.
